My drive for perfecting prose follows a PhD in cell biology at the University of Queensland (UQ), and four years postdoctoral research at the Mater Medical Research Institute in Brisbane, Australia. I started freelance editing in 2014, and later completed a qualification in professional editing at one of Australia’s most highly regarded editing companies. I am a casual copyeditor and writer for the Institute for Molecular Biosciences and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, at UQ.
As a member of the Institute for Professional Editors (IPEd), I am dedicated to keeping abreast of changes in the English language and current practices in professional editing.
I work with diverse clientele, including:
- academics looking to perfect their article or book chapter for publication
- students needing thesis editing for consistent, logical and correctly formatted work that is ready for submission
- businesses needing error-free marketing material, annual reviews, training manuals and grant proposals
- non-native English writers wanting to improve their skills and boost their confidence
- non-government and government organisations needing an editor who understands the importance of the Australian standards of writing, formatting and style.
